001
Context
Healthdirect Australia, in partnership with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, set out to build a single, impartial digital tool to battle growing misinformation, particularly online, and help Australians make science-backed contraception decisions.
002
Context
(Fragmented information landscape)
Australians seeking contraception information navigate a disjointed mix of clinical resources and advocacy sites, none designed to guide a personal decision.
(Growing online misinformation)
Rising mis- and disinformation online, particularly among young people, with no single trusted source to counter it.
(Limited access for at-risk communities)
The tool needed to work for people with very different needs, backgrounds, and health literacy levels, including First Nations, LGBTIQ+ and CALD communities.
003
Opportunity
(Evidence led product design)
Build a research-driven UX strategy from scratch, running multi-audience sessions with consumers, GPs, and peak bodies to ground design in real-world needs.
(Safe, science backed source of truth)
A single, trusted resource designed with input from First Nations, LGBTIQ+ and CALD communities.
004
Outcomes
(Ethnographic engagement at scale)
Research program across consumers, GPs, peak bodies, and culturally diverse communities
(Production ready prototype)
Production-ready interactive prototype incl. full decision-support flow, method content, and comparison feature
005
